price is high if you don't buy online; don't really seem to last too long

Posted Apr 2, 2007 - These filters are very easy to install, just make sure you push it in until it locks in place. I looked at Loewe's and it was $39.99 plus tax. I bought one online for $30 including shipping and no tax. They don't seem to last too long. I've had my current one for about two months and it's already down to 72% of its life. I wonder whether that's a function of the amount of water flowing through it or the amount of solids it has collected. If you want the filtered water and ice, you really don't have a choice but to pay for the filter.

4 Star Review Easy replacement

Strengths:

Push-button eject, front grille access

Weaknesses:

Old filter drips when ejected, must get air out of system

Posted Mar 27, 2007 - Easy to replace - the cap cover on the original / factory filter was broken, but was replaced under warranty from manufacturer. Advice: have a gallon pitcher or bucket close by after replacing; you need to run the water from the dispenser for about 4 minutes to get all of the air out of the lines. If you don't do this, the first time someone gets water it will continue to run until the air gets past the valve, which could be a few glasses worth - found out from experience! Otherwise, this filter cleans out taste and odor, and we have some funky water in our city. Original filter was good right up to 6 months - the recommended replacement period.

Strengths:

does a great job filtering

Weaknesses:

Little hard to remove the old filter and insert the new one. Also it took many tries to turn the light to green after installation.

Posted Aug 15, 2007 - I purchased this filter because it was highly recommended and i bought it at a Lowes store because that's where i bought the fridge. The filter was not on sale but i checked online for a rebate and there was one.

Posted Feb 27, 2007 - This filter is the best filter I have ever used. It works great and takes out all the odor! Before we had a brit filter and it still left a smell and off taste. Since we switched to Pur, the water is much better!

Posted Nov 29, 2007 - Easy to install in Whirlpool refrigerator. Very convenient to have fresh, cold, filtered water and ice available anytime. The fast fill feature is very nice to have. The filter installed in refrigerator lasted 7 months. Happy with no chlorine odor and taste of the water.

Posted May 11, 2007 - Even thought it is a little bit expensive, it is still a great product! So far I am still happy about it. The installation is quite simple and I haven’t had any problem to replace my old one. The water tastes odorless and the filter seems working efficiently and long lasting.

Strengths:

easy install and good water taste

Weaknesses:

only lasts about 6 months and I think it's bit expensive.

Posted Apr 10, 2007 - I've used this filter for over 6 months and just replaced it again. I didn't have any complaints with the quality and taste of water that I got from this filter. Water tasted good. Replacing it was very easy. I wish it was bit cheaper and lasted longer than 6 months. I haven't used the other filters to tell if this is really better than others, but I am happy with it thus only giving 4 stars.
