Great value

Strengths:

Inexpensive, built-in microphone

Weaknesses:

Call button only works with Microsoft software

Posted Mar 3, 2007 - I'm actually surprised by how impressed I was with this camera. From the box to using the camera was only a matter of minutes. It was easy to figure out how to use it with various software and the microphone works great. I've used mine in my office (a quiet room) and can walk 10-15 feet away and still be heard. The resolution is good and captures enough frames per minute that it's not terribly jerky like some older cameras. A great buy for the price, but definitely keep your eye out for rebates!!!

It's Easy to use!

Strengths:

vx-3000 works great with all of the instant messenger programs.

Weaknesses:

The windows live button only work with MSN windows live calling...I don't find it useful at all.

Posted Feb 19, 2008 - Great webcam. Don't bother with other brands especially phillips. This webcam simplified my instant messenger experience. It also replaced my headset because the camera has a mic on it also.

Great webcam.

Posted Nov 8, 2006 - This is a great little camera. It's very sleek looking, fits nicely, easy to install, and easy to use. I've had no problems with the built-in-mike. It's a little hard to focus at first, but once done, you can simply leave it alone. The windows live call button is somewhat annoying since it's very easy to hit and touch, but overall very nice, simple, and easy.

works great with MSN messenger

Strengths:

Easy setup, good audio/video, works great with MSN messenger,Good for videos at 640 by 480 resolution

Weaknesses:

Could be more clear,washed out color, mounting is somewhat difficult with the button up top.

Posted Jan 3, 2007 - the image quality is good but not great. should know at begining the camera has a focus ring.audio is great with the builtin macrophone. basically if you think that recording high definition videos is a feature that you need then this is not the one for you. However with the exception of the video quality issue this webcam has performed well. Video messaging looks okay, and it fits nicely on my laptop.

Posted Feb 27, 2007 - Be sure to adjust focus ring. Passable audio from the built-in microphone. However, the button on the top of the camera works only with Microsoft Life Messenger. Too bad it is useless using Skype or Google Talk. For the price paid ($6.59) plus coupons - my daughter loved it. Actually, 3.5 stars for this simple, easy and nice looking webcam.

Great little webcam

Posted Nov 10, 2006 - This is a great little webcam. I had it installed in less then 5 minutes, and was on-line transmitting a few minutes after that. The quality on the receiving end is nice, and the built in microphone is a nice feature. It sits on top of the monitor or the base of the monitor equally well. I'd recommend this webcam to anyone that is looking for one.

Great cam

Strengths:

Nice and compact, good value for the price

Posted Jan 10, 2007 - Basically this is a very nice cam. Got it at circuitcity for $24.99 after rebate ($25 MIR). I installed the drivers and it immediately started working. My cousin bought the logitech STX and it took almost 2 hours to get it to work. What a pain. Has a low light feature which is excellent. It also has a movement following feature which i have not installed, but is another great feature. You cannot beat this for the price. The VX-6000 was going for $99, so my decision was easy. Of course the MIR are a little tedious but it is free money if you submit. mine are already in the mail.

Good enough resolution

Posted Feb 11, 2007 - Installation was easy and performance was good enough. Use this as an upgrade for our desktop's 3 year old webcam. Stills are satisfactory. Would be very good if it goes with a mic. Well, for the price paid after rebate, $15 - highly recommended.

PIECE OF CRAP

its good at causing errors with microsoft

Posted 2 months ago - This cam is the worse I have ever owned! I have owned several good cams since the mid 90s but were not compatible with newer OSs as they came out. This cam has always had driver issues that conflict with Microsoft OS. Microsoft web cam that didn't work with their own OS. I always kept drivers up to date and with every new release the issue starts again. The only drivers that ever part-time worked were ver. 1.3 I have owned this cam several years now and finaly threw it away. PIECE OF CRAP!

Posted 1 year ago - the webcam is really good, except dont buy if you updated msn messenger. the webcam wont work. you have to have the old version. also the mic makes this buzzing noise. you dont hear it but the other people do. or if you create a video you will here it.

Works great with Windows Messenger and the quality of the voice and picture have been better than expected. Installation was a snap once we adjusted our firewall settings. No doubt this is an excellent value for the money.

Posted Jan 19, 2007 - I was looking for a nice webcamera to talk with my wife during business trips. This camera have good reviews and I bought it for $15 after rebates. I tried it and it works fine. The button on the top of the camera woks only with Microsoft Life Messenger, so it is useless if you are using Google Talk, Skype, or something else. I cannot say that the quality of the image is very good, but probably it is supposed to be like it is. I am completely satisfied with this camera and recommend it to the others.
