Strengths:1. Built in Microphone
2. Fairly flexible stand -- for desk/monitor or laptop lcd.
3. Very good Picture Quality for the price $25.00
4. Microsoft Product, so works with MS hware.
Weaknesses:1. Drivers size - 180Mb
2. Windows Live Call button
3. Stand could use a spring
Posted Mar 12, 2007 - I picked this webcam up, and didn't think too much of it. I had purchased a LOGITECH QUICKCAM MESSENGER for a little higher price ($39.00) and figured this wouldn't get me anywhere. However, when I installed it (180Mb later) and used it on a few Skype, Yahoo Messenger and MSN IM calls, I was quite intrigued. The device's Mic also works with Cisco's IPCC soft phone which is nice. The Window's live call button could be a tad smaller, but I learn to not hit it as I move the cam around. I like this web cam!
I've had a few for the last little while, and had been searching for a webcam that I can carry with me, when I travel, and really haven't found the right one for the right price. This is just about there & I may purchase a few for some family members & friends. Key reason -- Picture Quality & Sound Clarity.
Other Cam's I had tested/tried:
1. Intel's WebCam CS630 -- Great Cam, No Mic, Not Laptop Portable.
2. Lotgitech brands of QuickCam Pro for Notebooks -- All suck becuase they use the chip cam & they are really bad in low light situations. Also the picture tends to be really grainy. These camera's can cost as much as $99-$120 with all the right-sound & right light technology .. which is a PIA.
3. Logitech QuickCam for Messenger ($39) this was OK, but I'd love to return this for a Msft vx1000.
Hope this review helps & that you find a great deal for this webcam. Quite the keeper!
