Discussion of Wii Console
Posted 1 year ago - I just wanted to let everyone on here, especially those who aren't familiar with the standard pricing on things such as video game consoles, that anything over $250.00 is going over the MSRP on this product. The MSRP for a wii system is $249.99(USD). Don't let people take you across and pay an arm and a leg. Beyond that, here's a friendly tip-list for those out there looking to get a Wii for themselves or their family. ================= Suggestions and Tips ================= The Wii is an awesome console, and I recommend it for any family with children, or anyone who can is looking for fun that isn't always rated M for Mature. A great accessory to grab with your Wii is the WiiPlay(MSRP of 49.00USD). It comes with a remote control (MSRP 39.99 when bought alone) AND a set of 9 mini games such as Billiards, skeet shooting, and ping pong. For about $10 more, you get all those games AND that remote you needed to make your console 2 player! It's the best deal for two player fun when you first get your Wii! And don't forget the extra nunchuk($19.99MSRP), most games today being released for the Wii require it. If you're looking to get the whole sha-bang at one time, getting a remote charger kit is a good plan. These generally are less than $40USD at any retailer and save a ton of money in the long run (and help the environment, too!). Most include two rechargeable batteries that are designed to fit the WiiRemote and an A/C plug charger stand. ======================== For Parents New to the Gaming World ======================== A note to parents too: when looking for games for your children, the Wii is about the most family friendly way you can go for younger children, but know your ratings! These small graphics on the box can be your very best friend! From the ESRB (Entertainment Software rating Board in the US) website: EC - EARLY CHILDHOOD Titles rated EC (Early Childhood) have content that may be suitable for ages 3 and older. Contains no material that parents would find inappropriate. E - EVERYONE Titles rated E (Everyone) have content that may be suitable for ages 6 and older. Titles in this category may contain minimal cartoon, fantasy or mild violence and/or infrequent use of mild language. E10 - EVERYONE 10 Titles rated E10 (Everyone 10 and older) have content that may be suitable for ages 10 and older. Titles in this category may contain more cartoon, fantasy or mild violence, mild language and/or minimal suggestive themes. T - TEEN Titles rated T (Teen) have content that may be suitable for ages 13 and older. Titles in this category may contain violence, suggestive themes, crude humor, minimal blood, simulated gambling, and/or infrequent use of strong language. M - MATURE Titles rated M (Mature) have content that may be suitable for persons ages 17 and older. Titles in this category may contain intense violence, blood and gore, sexual content and/or strong language. Those are the ratings you will encounter most in your travels (there is an AO or Adults Only 18 rating, but rarely is it ever used. It is equal to an NC-17 film rating) And don't forget! If you want to know WHY something was rated that way, flip the case over and look in the lower right-hand corner. There is the rating repeated, with a brief description of WHY the game is rated the way it is. ========== Most Important! ========== And lastly, the most important thing to remember with the Wii (or any console you buy) is to have fun! There are titles out there for almost everyone to enjoy and plenty of great family memories to be made!

Posted Nov 8, 2007 - I have to say this is a fantastic game console. I usually don't let my kids play much video games, but this is actually physical(especially Tennis). Trust me, get one for your family. you wont regret it. And to top it all, I only paid MSRP. I had signed up for cellphone alerts from wiialerts.com based on a forum post, and getting the alerts and buying it was a piece of cake. Hope Nintendo gets production up so everyone gets a wii. This is one of the best products made!
