PCI - 54Mbps - MPN: DWLG510
Strengths: Not d-link
Weakness: Keeps locking up machines, loss of connection.
I bought 14 of them for a real estate agency. The machines constantly lock up when the drivers are loaded for these cards. Its not just one card. Its all 14 of them on 14 different machines. My business relationship is strained beyond relief. I guess I'll just have to buy 14 more cards(not d-link) to make them happy. I wasted so much time on these things. D-link was no help whatsoever. Stay away.

TopStrengths: it's good, it was an easy setup and it has decent signal
Weakness: u must move the antenna and the routers antenna to get good signal or it's most likely low but i have it from the living room the the second floor.

TopStrengths: Good signal quality; included software is helpful
Weakness: None that I discovered yet
This is a very good network card. I am using in with the defult router and it runs very well. It has good speed. For a value user it works well, but dlink's faster network card/router combo are better for those looking to spend a little more money.

TopStrengths: Excellent signal, easy to install, simple but informative and useful software.
Weakness: Signal can be a bit tarnished since the antenna is at the BACK of the computer. But even so, the signal still picks up pretty well.
This wireless desktop adaptor from D-link works like a charm. I installed it quickly and everything just feel in place after running the drivers and viewing the quick-start manual. Though, since the antenna is behind the computer, the signal is significantly weaker than using D-link's USB wireless adaptor (which you can plug into the added cradle and place on top of your computer for a better reception). But to my surprise the product still performed exceptionally well under these conditions. It has a constant stable connection with my D-link DI-524 wireless router which is down the hallway in a bedroom.
Another good product from D-link. But unless you have limited USB ports (or you don't have any at all) I recommend getting the USB adaptor instead for its convenience and greater options in its placement for better reception.

TopStrengths: Stays connected. Easy to install. Longer range than Wireless-B.
Weakness: Often needs help of an additional atenna to stay connected & increase speeds.
Once I got this card connected to my wireless network (with the help of a Hawking Technology antenna), it stayed connected and gave impressive speeds. However, without the antenna, connection was unstable and speeds were inconsistent.
Mind you, I am using this in one corner of a two-story house while the DI-624 router is downstairs on the opposite corner so it will need some help to get connected. However, once I got the system connected to the router using WEP security I have not had any problems.
I've not tried any ad-hoc connections with other PC's so I can't report its performance in that mode.
Because of this card and the performance I've gotten from the DI-624 router, I have stayed with only D-Link products for wireless and would recommend others the same.

TopStrengths: Eventually connected to network at 54Mbps
Weakness: Pain to get working
I bought this card to install in my desktop to upgrade to a wireless G network using a Linksys router. I had to install and uninstall this product 3 times to get it to work right, but now that it is working it works fine. When you are installing, just follow the directions step-by-step and don't make any modifications. Don't download newer drivers from D-link's website, nothing. Just do exactly as it says and that's what worked for me. Make sure any old cards are completely uninstalled. In general, I much prefer Linksys products, but this one had a great rebate, so I couldn't pass it up.

TopStrengths: No wires!
Weakness: Signal strength could be stronger.
Great product if you're looking to go wireless. Easy setup and installation. I would recommend if you're tying to setup a basic wireless network at home.

TopStrengths: Essay to Setup, Good Quality, Fast, Good Support.
Weakness: Price.
I got that to add computer on my wireless network, its work good with the 54MBPS wireless router and you can get the that speed, it also work with older routers with 11MBPS speed, Very easy to configure and with the good signal reception. Price is another factor, few years a ago PCI and Laptop card are the same price but now Laptop card are mush cheaper, but PCI card still cost almost the same price.

TopStrengths: price and ease of installation
I got a great deal on this adapter. It was very easy to install and has worked great since day one. I was later concerned upon learning that the same model# card fried my son's VAIO desktop. I figure if I was going to have problems, I would have had them right away. Just one of those things I guess.

TopStrengths: Good speed and connectivity.
Weakness: During the first 2 days, Windows XP was not able to detect the card twice, but haven't had any problems since. Sometimes takes a few minutes upon startup to detect wireless router signals .
This is a fairly good and cheap unit (lots of rebates right now), although it had some issues at first. It's got a good signal, being tucked in the corner of the room. I have it running off my 802.11b router so I would like to see how fast the network is with a new 802.11g router.
I would recommend it.

TopStrengths: Stable connection, Cheap, Easy to install
Weakness: None
This is an invredible wireless PCI adapter. Cheap, reliable, and you don't have to be a computer expert to install this hardware. During 7 days of use, it has never failed on me. Good product for your budget computer!

TopStrengths: Speed, price
Weakness: None
The only reaseon I am giving this card 4 stars is because of short time of ownership. Didn't have any problems so far. Insatllation and set-up are very simple and it will cost me $10 bucks after rebate only. Will update review in a month.

TopStrengths: Price, stability
Weakness: None so far
I wanted to change my slower wireless network card to faster. This one works fine on my system. Speed increased while streaming mp3-s from my base computer 2 rooms away. So far very stabile and fast enough.

TopStrengths: Connected and worked reliably at 802.11g speeds without any problems. Recommended.
Weakness: No driver for Linux. Works with ndiswrapper though.
I recommend the hardware. I am currently running it reliably without problems.
If you are a Windows user, it may be a snap to install. The only weakness is that it doesn't have a Linux driver. You can use the WinXP driver with ndiswrapper, but it's a bit tricky.

TopStrengths: Not much fairly moderate item, nothing really outstanding.
Weakness: Not many customization options and the lack of Windows 98 operating system support.
Bought this to work with my D-Link Wireless Router and it worked fine, nothing special though. I really hated the lack of customizable options and the Windows 98 support really bugged me because I had to upgrade the PC so it would work.

TopStrengths: Signal strength and compatibility with DI-524 router.
Weakness: NONE.
Very glad i bought this (it was on sale) because i can test my router's WPA feature. Also, was able to experiment using the Hawking 6db and SMC 4db omni-directional antenna. At 60ft(with 3 walls), got very good signal @ 48Mbps, even with 128-bit encryption using WPA.
Highly recommended with dlink wireless routers.

TopStrengths: Easy setup. Great Connection.
Weakness: None so far.
I would definately purchase this product again, the card has been working great and I've had no problems with it. The signal is strong through a couple of walls and bunch of electrical appliances.

TopStrengths: Very Stable Card even after long hours of continuous use.
Weakness: Have to refresh the wireless connection every time the computer comes out of standby.
This is my first wireless card purchase. I am using it to share my dsl connection with my roommate through a wireless gateway. I didnot have any problems installing the card and it is very stable. My internet connection used to terminate frequently when I was using dialup but with DSL and this card, my connection never breaks. The use of the software is very straightforward. It seamlessly integrates with Windows XP and enabling security features are easy. No problems so far. Highly recommended.

TopStrengths: setup was easy, software was decent.
Weakness: finding and holding connectivity to network - basically the only things i wanted it to do!
i walked in to my local Best Buy and grabbed this off the shelf, enticed by $30 after rebate price.
since then, i've spent most of my time in the wireless settings on my XP Pro machine trying to access my home network. the router is in the next room and my laptop can go anywhere in the house but my desktop with this GWL-510 card in it was totally helpless. wireless signal would flicker on and off all the time, interrupted by the cordless phone or, most times, nothing at all. coincidentally, my friend purchased one from the same Best Buy and he had the exact same problems i did. i went to Staples the other day, picked up the Belkin F5D7000, and everything works like a charm. i couldnt find any updates for the GWL-510 on their website. i bought the D-Link because i heard good things about the brand, so i'm thinking my friend and i just bought a couple of lemons.

TopStrengths: strong signal, easy to setup
Weakness: none
recently i bought it to replace an generic pci wireless card, which has unstable signal and troublesome installation. i am pretty happy to have this dlink. its setup is easy as a snap. and consistent signal makes nevery worry about interruption when "chat" online using msn messenger.

TopBought this item a month ago. Found it easy to setup and I am very satisfied with its quality and reliability.
no linux support, bad windows 2000 support.
Strengths: Reasonably fast when it works.
Weakness: Little to no support for alternative operating systems (UNIX, WIN2k)
Why I would never buy this again:
-Using WEP encryption under Windows 2000, the lousy DLink Airplus utility needs a "kick" every time you boot the machine (needs to be reminded of its encryption settings).
-Tried to install this under FreeBSD using kernel modules and using NDISwrapper. Had awful luck.
-No firmware upgrades or driver updates available.
-No WPA encryption available on Windows 2000.
-Seems to cause interference with my Bluetooth connection.
