Assassin’s Creed is the next-gen game developed by Ubisoft Montreal that will redefine the action genre. While other games claim to be next-gen with impressive graphics and physics, Assassin’s Creed merges technology, game design, theme, and emotions into a world where you instigate chaos and become a vulnerable, yet powerful, agent of change. The setting is 1191 AD. The Third Crusade is tearing the Holy Land apart. You, Altair, intend to stop the hostilities by suppressing both sides of the conflict. You are an Assassin, a warrior shrouded in secrecy and feared for your ruthlessness. Your actions can throw your immediate environment into chaos, and your existence will shape events during this pivotal moment in history. minimize

4 Star Review Assassin's Creed Review

Strengths:

Nice Graphics, big cities to explore

Weaknesses:

A bit repetitive

Posted Jan 22, 2008 - Assassin's Creed is a game that does many things right, though throughout the course of the game it does get repetitive. Searching through the cities of Damascus, Jerusalem, etc., is very thrilling as all the cities look great and are filled with life. The combat isn't the greatest thing to grace the video game industry, but it works. The music and sound effects are well done and bring the game to life. Overall I really enjoyed playing it and if you like these sorts of games I definitely recommend it.

4 Star Review Assassin's Creed Xbox360

Strengths:

Great graphics and awesome atmosphere. Good story and cutscenes and fun gameplay. Big cities and free roaming gameplay makes you feel like you're wandering through the 3rd crusade.

Weaknesses:

Missions are far apart and can get boring just traveling from one point to another in game. Somewhat annoying gameplay because you're forced to be stealthy and can't go fighting all the way.

Posted Dec 3, 2007 - This game has been hyped for such a long time now and it's finally here. I must say that at first glance it was like Prince of Persia with a more real twist and less cartoony graphics, but after a few days, the game has really grown on me and I enjoy it a lot now. The graphics in this game are incredible, from the re-creation of Jerusalem to the little thing like the people roaming around the cities, it all feels so real and breathing. I was immersed in just wandering the cities and searching for the hidden flags just to relax and enjoy the game environments. The gameplay can get annoying because this is really a stealth game. You're meant to stalk your opponents and assassinate and you're penalized for being aggressive and going on a rampage through the cities. All in all, if you're into the stealth and sneaking games, this is a must buy. Even if you're not, the atmosphere and graphics alone are worth a trek through it at least once.

4 Star Review Worth The Hype??

Strengths:

Huge area, Nice graphics, Many side missions and flag hunting.

Weaknesses:

Repetitive game play and lack of multiplayer.

Posted Nov 28, 2007 - Did this game meet it's early expectations? Yes and no. The game play can be addictive but the repetitiveness can be an hindrance. My opinion is that it is a good game, but it is one that you would sell back to Gamestop or EBay once complete. I have been going through the game at a pretty slow pace and have only done 2 assassinations early on. It's pretty much get your objective, travel to the town, find view points, get Intel, pick pocket, and assassinate person. If Ubisoft would have taken more time and constructing more variety in the objectives, this game would have been great. All in all the game is fun to play and is worth a purchase. Unfortunately many people may be turned off by some of the bad reviews and expectations this game had.

5 Star Review A thoroughly satisfying adventure

Strengths:

Mesmerizing visuals, graphics and story

Weaknesses:

Repetitive missions

Posted Dec 29, 2007 - Assassin's Creed is another AAA title released for the 360 in the fall of 2007. The game centers around a story that alternates between Altair, a member of a guild of assassins during the time of the Third Crusade, and Desmond Miles, a descendant of Altair in the near future. I have to say, Assassin's Creed is one of the best looking games to come to the 360 so far. Ubisoft went out of its way to create a breathtaking setting, graphically impressive characters, and fluid animations. The actions you do as Altair, be it combat, wall climbing, free running, etc are incredibly realistic and satisfying. The story is top notch and leaves itself open for more sequels making this a surefire hit franchise. The main issue with this game is the repetitive missions of gathering intelligence on your targets: reaching lookout points, interrogations, eavesdropping and pickpocketing. It is a valid complaint and one that is sure to be corrected in future installments. But there is enough here that was done right that it still makes for a worthwhile action game. Flag collecting and just exploring the world they've created make for a fun break from the story. All in all, Assassin's Creed is a visually stunning top notch game that will only get better.

5 Star Review Assassin's Creed 360

Strengths:

Variety and interesting scenery. Action at every turn.

Weaknesses:

Wish it was 2 player.

Posted Mar 5, 2008 - The story in this is interesting. Good vs evil, societies vs societies. Action throughout. Variety of weaponry. Nice set of different things to do. I like the fact that I can choose when to fight and when to pass. Great game!

4 Star Review Assassin's Creed Kick Butt

Strengths:

Game Play, Freedom to Roam any where, You can climb anywhere.

Weaknesses:

Repetitive, Side Quest are quite the same.

Posted Dec 16, 2007 - I played Assassin's Creed for about a week and finished it in 5 days. Even though the game was great, it was too quick. The game is very simple, kill someone in any manner, and then report back to your agent. Overall, I would recommend this game to any gamer who likes action and some more action.

5 Star Review Assassins Creed for Xbox360

Strengths:

Great game play, unique controls, fantastic storyline

Weaknesses:

Repetitive missions, enemy AI

Posted Nov 23, 2007 - I was waiting for this game all year and it does not disappoint. Graphics are beautiful, gameplay very intuitive and flawless. Just getting to the top of the cathedral in Acre is a blast. Just wish the missions would mix it up a bit more. Great game, start of an even better series.

5 Star Review Great game

Strengths:

Cool graphics, great soundeffects, good story, huge map

Weaknesses:

small amount of weapons, easy targets, no xbox-live

Posted 3 months ago - Great game with nice graphics that brings the game to life. Fighting is awesome, but you can kill many men with counterattack. But overall it's a great game. My advice; Buy it.

3 Star Review The Way of the Assassin

Strengths:

+open world to explore +creative control +interesting storyline +gorgeous graphics

Weaknesses:

-unfinished product -repetitive/lack variety -little replay ability

Posted Jan 26, 2008 - Assassin’s Creed has finally been released but the question is was it worth all the hype? The answer is a resounding yes and no. Graphics are breathtaking from Altair to all three cities in the game. Controls are not complex and are easy to pick up. Practically all the buildings in Assassin’s Creed are climbable, within reason. By far my favorite part of the game was exploring the highly detailed cities, and performing dives off large buildings. After completing the game gamers can still explore the city and collect the various flags scattered around all the cities. While Assassin’s Creed excels in graphics, and game dynamics the storyline leaves much to be desired. The infamous plot-twist occurs in the very beginning of Assassin’s Creed and wasn’t very interesting. Assassin’s Creed’s ending was also disappointing and seemed to set the game up for a sequel more than a conclusive ending. Combat while realistic, was a bit too simplistic for my tastes. The game also suffers from severe repetition. Altair has 9 assassinations he must perform and goes about each assassination in the same manner. That means Altair must gather intel, pick pocket, etc. repeatedly. Despite its flaws Assassin’s Creed is a worthy addition to any 360 collection.

4 Star Review Good Game

Strengths:

Good overall game so far. Plenty of action

Weaknesses:

None so far

Posted Jan 13, 2008 - This is pretty much what I was expecting, if not better. There's plenty of action to keep you playing for hours - not realizing it's been hours. Don't start if you need to get sleep soon!

5 Star Review Favorite Game in Quite a Long Time

Strengths:

Realistic, Graphics, Plot, Time Setting

Weaknesses:

None

Posted Jan 8, 2008 - If you haven't purchased this game yet you should. It's so entertaining that I don't play it too often because I don't want to beat it yet. The levels are so huge and you have free reign to complete whatever missions you want in whatever order you want. The graphics in the game make the scenery look so realistic that it adds so much to playing the game. Highly recommend.

5 Star Review Awesome RPG game for the 360

Strengths:

storyline. practice mode. graphics. game length.

Weaknesses:

none.

Posted Dec 28, 2007 - I initially purchased this game for my baby brother who has been dyign to try out the game due to all the heavy advertising campaign for it, & he's a big fan of RPG games. Assassin's Creed is as good as Final Fantasy! While watching him play, I got hooked myself and started my own file. At first, you'll be surprised by the storyline. I won't tell you what it is. It is a pleasant surprise. I can guarantee that. With all the advertising, if you haven't read any reviews, you'd never know. It adds to this game's uniqueness. I was hooked to the game to find out what would happen next. The storyline just does not lag. The fight, moves & controls are great for the 360. I'm glad I passed over purchasing the PS3 version. The sceneries are amazing. It seems the game developers to make this game not only fun and interesting but very visually appealing as well.

5 Star Review Wall Climber's Fantasy

Strengths:

Absolutely gorgeous graphics, deep and intricate storyline, climb and go just about anywhere

Weaknesses:

Clunky combat controls

Posted Dec 27, 2007 - Assassin's Creed is a wall climber's dream. Imagine playing Prince of Persia (also made by Ubisoft) except you have entire cities at your climbing disposal. Just about anything that looks climbable is climbable. From the ground you could see towering arches of church buildings or high-level watch towers, and many of these you can climb straight from the ground-up. The game is very open-sandbox oriented with various missions you have to do at different locations in the city you're in. There is a also a central storyline that ties all these mini-missions you do together to form the overall story-arc. Graphically this game is a monster - seemingly to push the 360 graphics capabilities to its limits. Everything is alive with crowds of people walking among the streets in the ancient Middle-East. Some people might compare this to Grand Theft Auto, but I think it has much more depth and richness to its design than that series. The animation of the characters are smooth and extremely detailed (almost CG-level.) However the game does seem to be hampered by clunky combat controls which become extremely frustrating when dealing with multiple enemies at once. In some instances when you get stuck in a small area on a rooftop with multiple enemies, the controls don't seem fast enough for you to be able to dodge all their attacks which can inevitably have you falling all the way down to the city floor. Overall though, I found this game to be extremely immersing and worth-playing...

3 Star Review Nearly Assinates Itself

Strengths:

Beautiful graphics, fun exploration elements

Weaknesses:

Repetitive, repetitive, repetitive...did I say repetitive yet? No? Ok, repetitive.

Posted Dec 27, 2007 - This game has so much potential it's palpable. The graphics are amazing, the controls (once you are used to them) enable fun and fluid movement and exploration, and the story seems at first to have potential, but falls on its face. The game revolves around the following structure: Investigate your target, find him, and kill him. Repeat. There is zero variety, you do the same thing for everyone. There are three areas...but they look almost identical save for a different layout. The combat and exploration are amazingly entertaining, it's just such a shame the rest of the game bogs it down. Take the combat and exploration elements for a new Prince of Persia, and you have yourself a winner. Hopefully the planned sequel can redeem this still promising new series.

4 Star Review Thumbs Up

Strengths:

Visually stunning

Weaknesses:

Repetitive

Posted Dec 17, 2007 - The graphics and sounds of the cities are stimulating to the senses while you are running and jumping around them. It would be better if it were a multi-player game.
