Surprisingly good kids movie game - great kids adventure game

Somewhat easy and not too engaging for older players

Posted 4 months ago - Most games based on kids' movies follow the pattern of being sub-par games that try to ride the coattails of wildly popular movies and end up selling better than they should because of the licence. Surprisingly, that's not the case with Spiderwick Chronicles. While the movie was decent enough, it was somewhat overlooked. The game, meanwhile, is actually pretty good and would be a decent game even if it had nothing to do with the movie. It is an action/adventure game with equal parts platforming, item collecting, cmobat, and puzzle solving. It has a nice learning curve for younger players though older players might not find it too interesting (these games are always good for easy achievement points though).

Decent Kid's Game

Painting can be a pain and is repetitive.

Posted 1 year ago - As an achievement junkie I've played my share of kid's games and this one was better than most. The controls are decent, the graphics are passable and cut scenes from the movie added to the experience. The painting minigame can be a pain at times, but at least it was a unique gameplay element. I enjoyed most of the 7 hours it took to get all of the achievements.
